Archives & History Building

This 50,000 square feet addition to The State of Alabama's Archives and History Building was constructed in Montgomery, Alabama. Construction included deep site excavation with soil retention systems used to protect existing utilities and streets. Underground street borings (2 each) were required to bring service from new central utility plant to building addition. Drilled pier foundations supported the 5-level cast in place concrete structure. The exterior skin was a stucco and plaster system to match existing finishes. The addition included much needed archive storage space, auditorium, reference/research space, and administration areas. The exterior improvements included a scaled replica map of Alabama showing the contours of the state with accurate flow of rivers throughout Alabama.

 
Barnes & Noble Bookstore

Barnes & Noble Bookstore

This Barnes & Noble Bookstore is located in The Cullis Wade Depot at Mississippi State University.  Outdoor porches offer a refreshing respite for students and sports fans along the southern and western elevations of the building. Construction features include exposed structural elements, galvanized ductwork, stained floors, and ornamental ironwork.  Geothermal wells provide state-of-the-art, energy-efficient cooling for the facility. A large skylight provides natural lighting within the Barnes & Noble atrium, which plays host to numerous game day activities and musical guests.

Belk Department Store

Belk Department Store

Approximately 170,000 square feet retail store in Flowood, Mississippi. Construction utilized a two-story steel frame with a single-ply membrane roof system. Exterior walls were EIFS applied over a cold-formed framing system.

Mall at Barnes Crossing

JESCO’s Construction-Engineering Division worked with David Hocker and Associates, Inc. to revamp The Mall at Barnes Crossing in Tupelo, Mississippi. There were multiple projects in various mall areas including the construction of a new Barnes & Noble book store. Stores with new faces and exterior mall entrances included JoS A. Bank, Coldwater Creek, and Ulta. The store entrances within the Mall for which JESCO provided white box build out included Hibbett Sports, Charming Charlie and Gap outlet. The  stores outside of the mall structure but still on mall property, for which JESCO provided white box build out were Old Navy and
Rue-21. JESCO was also required to upgrade some of the Mall entrances with new pavers, sidewalks, pole lighting, and landscape beds.

 
Montgomery Regional Airport

Montgomery Regional Airport

JESCO constructed each of the three phased additions to the Montgomery Regional Airport in Montgomery, Alabama. Construction was completed over a 5-year time period, while maintaining a fully operational airport. Work included renovation of baggage handling, car rental, airline ticket counters and corporate offices. Additions included new gates, waiting areas, executive meeting rooms, rotunda, and complete new curtain wall at building exterior. Traffic approaches to the airport were changed along with extensive landscaping, new parking areas, renovation to existing parking and parking lot control equipment.

SAKS Fifth Avenue

JESCO, Inc. constructed and/or renovated fifty-six department stores for SAKS, Incorporated in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Texas, and West Virginia. These stores ranged from 90,000 square feet to 230,000 square feet.
 

Southern Homes & Gardens

Southern Homes & Gardens

This 45,000 square foot retail facility for Southern Homes and Gardens includes deep foundations, concrete slab on void forms, steel structure, shingle roof and masonry skin. The building interior includes a showroom, cafeteria, conference space and offices. Additional features include extensive outside retail and greenhouse spaces.

UAB Parking Deck

UAB Parking Deck

This 8 level, 1,200 plus parking space Parking Deck was constructed for The University of Alabama Birmingham in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. Construction included deep foundation piling, cast-in-place, post tensioned concrete structure with brick and precast exterior. Parking deck includes valet parking, elevators, and lobby for connector to adjoining hospital.
