Bio-secure feed facility built for high-volume operations

Project Overview

JESCO delivered full design-build services for Aviagen North America’s 10,000 SF bio-secure poultry feed facility, constructed to support the production of approximately 45,000 tons of feed annually. The facility was designed for maximum operational efficiency, strict contamination control, and seamless material handling.

In addition to the enclosed structure, the project included 100,000 SF of concrete paving and significant civil grading and sitework. The building features hybrid pre-engineered framing, rebar-reinforced floor slabs, a TPO roof, and masonry wainscot with horizontal wall panels. Equipment infrastructure included two bridge cranes, ESPF fire protection with booster pump, rooftop HVAC systems, and silo/chiller foundations.

This distribution center significantly enhances Mercedes-Benz’s parts logistics network in North America, combining high-volume storage, precision inventory management, and efficient loading/unloading systems in a single, fully integrated facility.

Designing a facility with stringent biosecurity needs close coordination between structural design, material handling layout, and HVAC/fire protection systems. JESCO’s self-perform capabilities allowed the team to manage sequencing tightly, ensuring clean-room conditions were maintained and all processing equipment aligned with operational goals.
