Project Overview

JESCO constructed two major additions for Montgomery Cancer Center, a Baptist Health facility in Montgomery, Alabama. The highlight of this work is a 2,700 SF radiation oncology bunker housing a Varian HE 21 Clinac Linear Accelerator, completed with advanced shielding and precision infrastructure. The facility expansion supports state-of-the-art cancer treatment with dedicated rooms for radiotherapy, control systems, and supporting equipment.

This specialized medical environment required complex structural systems, radiation shielding, and seamless MEP coordination. JESCO delivered the project with a high level of technical accuracy, ensuring patient safety and equipment performance in a mission-critical healthcare setting.

This distribution center significantly enhances Mercedes-Benz’s parts logistics network in North America, combining high-volume storage, precision inventory management, and efficient loading/unloading systems in a single, fully integrated facility.

Impact

Challenges and Solutions

Radiation shielding and medical infrastructure integration demanded absolute precision. JESCO installed a 1,400-lb Nelco Neutron Shielding Door and coordinated early with equipment vendors (Varian and Brainlab) to ensure proper installation and system readiness. Structural work, particularly the deep drilled piers and 4-ft concrete walls, was executed with careful engineering and phasing to stay on schedule.
